This could possibly be the most unique bed and breakfast experience in all fifty states! Imagine staying on a former Coast Guard light station, 85 feet above the ocean, 25 miles off the coast of Southport, North Carolina! You don't have to imagine it - it's real! Richard and Rhonda Neal acquired the rusty station, called The Frying Pan Tower in 2010 through a government surplus sale and are currently in the process of restoring the platform. Despite the ongoing restoration project, the station, originally built in 1966, is open to adventure seekers who are looking for an extremely unique way to enjoy the ocean, the marine life & reef upon which it sits, not to mention the unobstructed views of the sea and stars. Reservation options start at $300 if you arrange your own transportation (boat or helicopter) or $498 which includes boat transportation, meals and two nights accommodations.
